Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Leak Reveals All-Black Camera Plateau and New Design Features

Cupertino, February 3, 2026 — Apple’s long-rumored first foldable iPhone is shaping up to be markedly different from any of the company’s previous phones, according to fresh design leaks circulating online. Industry insiders and tipsters suggest that the upcoming device will feature striking design elements, including an all-black camera plateau and rethought button placement, giving it a unique identity in the premium smartphone market.

Distinctive Camera Design

According to multiple leaks, the foldable iPhone’s rear camera section — referred to as a camera plateau — will be completely finished in black, no matter the colour of the phone’s body. This black camera area is expected to house two horizontally arranged cameras along with a microphone and LED flash, presenting a bold contrast to the rest of the chassis. This aesthetic choice could give Apple’s first foldable a distinctive look that stands out among other premium devices.

New Button Layout and Touch ID

Unlike past iPhone models, the volume buttons on the foldable are likely to be relocated to the top edge of the device, aligned to the right in a style somewhat reminiscent of Apple’s iPad mini. The power button — which is expected to integrate a Touch ID sensor — and the dedicated Camera Control button will remain on the right side, while the opposite edge of the phone will be button-free. This rethink in button placement may help streamline internal layouts and free up space for other components.

Reports suggest that the internal layout could allow for Apple’s largest battery ever in an iPhone, potentially improving real-world usage and endurance for power-hungry tasks. Current rumours also indicate that the phone may launch first in white, with a second colour option likely to be introduced alongside it.
